Subject July prayer
As Becky and I worshiped in Nashville at the General Assembly of the PCA, hearing the Word, praying, singing hymns and songs of praise, taking communion, along with more than a couple thousand others, we were impressed once again with the reality that we are part of a church. That should be obvious, but I forget easily, being down here at the border. We are a part of something much bigger than what we see here close by. We are in the Church of Jesus Christ, His Body, and in that particular part of the Body that is called the Presbyterian Church in America. And I heard again that we value important truths, such as that the Bible is in fact the Word of God and that we as a church do have a mission in the world, to proclaim the Gospel of the Kingdom. We have many defects and sins, but we live and worship by the grace of our Savior. God blessed us also with the joy of seeing supporters, friends, and talking with people about BEAMM. And we rejoiced in the singing celebration of God's grace in hymns led by Indelible Grace at the Ryman Auditorium.
Earlier in June we went to spend a long weekend with the La Vid mission in Laredo. Susan Hunts book "By Design" has come out in Spanish, so Becky was able to lead a discussion with ladies from the church through three sessions. Some of the men and Pastor Carlos and I studied about the Law in our Confession of Faith and I preached on our adoption in Christ. We continue to give thanks that this mission is becoming a church in the PCA
I also had the privilege of being with BEAMM leaders in Juarez discussing our future direction as a ministry on the border. This was our second major meeting and there will be another in August. We are excited that God is leading us to a focus in our work that will enable us to be even more effective as his servants on the U.S./Mexico border!
Oh...go Spain!
Please give thanks :
1) for our ministry in Laredo at La Vid PCA mission, both Becky and I taught and I preached;
2) for the BEAMM leadership meeting;
3) for the General Assembly;
4) for God's care for our children; the northern edge of Alex came in and soaked the area but all were safe.
Please pray:
1) for travel for Becky and me to Ridgehaven the 9th - 17th for "Re-entry" and "Summer Conference," as we participate in these Home Ministry Assignment activities while doing a much modified HMA; that we would be encouraged and strengthened for the work;
2) ...for team ministry at La Vid in Laredo the 24th - 31st, for people to be added to the mission and for their building to be completed soon;
3) also for important changes in their corporation papers that will allow them to work with a bank for the possible refinancing of their loan; ask God to allow La Vid to obtain a lower rate, a lower payment, and the funds necessary to finalize their building!
4) ...continually for a church planter for McAllen area and for other opportunities to open up on both sides of the border; for wisdom and discernment to make plans;
5) for us to be effective sharing the Gospel with those we meet here in the valley;
6) ...for our family as we travel; Will raises support and travels to Atlanta for a wedding this month; Rachel and Lisa are at home and working (thanks for that!); Ben and Sofia continue working in separate places this summer, though they are now together in Las Cruces.
Thank you and God bless you all this summer!
