Our Worship Services

We have two worship services each Lord's day, one in the morning and one in the evening (See meeting schedule here). While traditional in style, both services often include use of contemporary songs. The evening service is a bit more informal than the morning service. Both seek to follow the Biblical principles of worship as discussed elsewhere on this page.

The sacrament of the Lord's supper is administered during the morning service on the last Sunday of each month.

Because worship is our highest duty and greatest privilege, the Elders at Westminster urge you to bring even your youngest children into our church's services so they can start learning how to worship our great God and Savior as soon as possible. However, if you feel you need to take your child out, two rooms are provided for your convenience; a "cry room" with a large window and audio feed, and a "nursery" equipped with video and audio feeds.

WORSHIP

Westminster's Statement of Purpose says in part:

"We stive to ... build a loving assembly of believers of all ages and backgrounds for vibrant God-centered worship."

Worship is extremely important, and so is knowing what we do in worship, and why we do it. Paragraph 1 of Chapter 21 of the Westminster Confession of Faith asserts this fact, and emphasizes the scriptural law of worship that is traditionally called the regulative principle of worship.

The light of nature sheweth that there is a God, who hath lordship and sovereignty over all, is good, and doth good unto all, and is therefore to be feared, loved, praised, called upon, trusted in, and served, with all the heart, and with all the soul, and with all the might. But the acceptable way of worshipping the true God is instituted by Himself, and so limited by His own revealed will, that He may not be worshipped according to the imaginations and devices of men, or the suggestions of Satan, under any visible representation, or any other way not prescribed in the Holy Scripture.

In the next few paragraphs the Confession goes on to stipulate that prayer, the reading of Scripture, preaching of the Word, singing of psalms, and administration of the sacrements, are the Biblically mandated means of worshiping God.
